Come Judge Me
Come Judge Me
I am standing in front of you
I hold no barriers up
I can, but I do not wish to
Come Judge me for my colour
Judge me for my looks
Judge me for my knowledge
For my certificates and my books
Come Judge me for my actions
Judge me for my choices
Judge me for my emotions
For my unapologetic voices
Come Judge me for my height
Judge me for my size
Judge me for my attitude
You find it harsh, you find it nice
We’ll just let those judgements flow
And let them swirl and play
I don't have to take them on
I don't have to push them away

Just a Choice Away
I have been sad enough times
To know it does not work for me
And have fought in anger enough
To know battles can’t set me free
I have cursed fortune enough
To know cursing doesn't change luck
The more I wallowed in self pity
The more it kept me stuck
I have delighted in pointing fingers
And even mastered the blame game
Only to realize pain does not ease
By attributing to another name
I have known the darkness of shame
And carried the burden of regret
Indeed the pain that stems from the past
Can be often difficult to forget
And yet I have felt a lightness
That seems to be the DNA of Life
An undercurrent of peace and joy
That is underneath the pain and strife
This undercurrent is always there
And it is just a choice away
Why would I not choose it for me?
Why would I not choose it today?

The Divine Tease
You exist somewhere between heaven and earth
You play with us between death and birth
You are, but then you also are not
Everything I've asked for, and everything I've got
You are the ball of dreams, the chalice of hope
You are the fabric of strength that helps us cope
You are the magic of possibility strewn around
Disguised as brown dust on the ground
You are the matter of wood, of leaves, of flowers
You are a rainbow grid of colourful powers
You are a spark that sets this world on fire
This world sandwiched by fear and desire
You are the raw potential of life and love
You are the silent peace we see in a dove
You exist but unless we embody you here
We are left just holding your vision so dear
You play with us between death and birth
You are, but then you also are not
Everything I've asked for, and everything I've got
You are the ball of dreams, the chalice of hope
You are the fabric of strength that helps us cope
You are the magic of possibility strewn around
Disguised as brown dust on the ground
You are the matter of wood, of leaves, of flowers
You are a rainbow grid of colourful powers
You are a spark that sets this world on fire

Right and Wrong, Good and Bad
Too long have I lived with moral delusions
Of ‘absolute right’ and ‘absolute wrong’
Fixated with getting my life ‘just right’
I forgot I was here to sing my song
I forgot my lyrics, I forgot my tune
I forgot I was here to dance and play
Now without the frames of ‘good’ and ‘bad’
Of ‘absolute right’ and ‘absolute wrong’
Fixated with getting my life ‘just right’
I forgot I was here to sing my song
I forgot my lyrics, I forgot my tune
I forgot I was here to dance and play
Now without the frames of ‘good’ and ‘bad’
I am free to create my life today
Right and Wrong, Good and Bad
These were the pillars of my cage
And I tried my best to understand them
Searching through scriptures page by page
Had I just looked to nature instead
My delusional cage would have fallen away
For nature and life have no judgement
Night is just night, and day is just day
The volcano is neither good nor bad
The tornado is neither right nor wrong
And the vulture who feeds on her prey
Is simply just living her song
Sure there are consequences to each choice
And we can think before we take that leap
We can choose what seeds we wish to sow
Based on the designs we wish to reap
The seeds are neither good nor bad
They just are seeds of different kinds
We sow them in our fields and gardens
We sow them in our hearts and minds
Right and Wrong, Good and Bad
These were the pillars of my cage
And I tried my best to understand them
Searching through scriptures page by page
Had I just looked to nature instead
My delusional cage would have fallen away
For nature and life have no judgement
Night is just night, and day is just day

Fire-Water-Space
There is a fire in my heart
A fire in my soul
A fire that is strong and bright
The fire just burns
For a fire knows to burn
Into sparks of heat and light
There are tears in my eyes
And pools in my heart
And streams streak down my cheeks
Water will flow
For water knows to flow
From the springs and through the creeks
There is space in my being
And space all around
Both outside and inside me
Space will exist
For space always did
And this space is what I be
A fire in my soul
A fire that is strong and bright
The fire just burns
For a fire knows to burn
Into sparks of heat and light
There are tears in my eyes
And pools in my heart
And streams streak down my cheeks
Water will flow

Alone
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
Was I about to shed a tear?
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
Is it even real, this flicker of fear?
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
With fleeting feelings of imagined sorrow
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
I have nobody else’s stories to borrow
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
No distractions here to divert my mind
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
My own pretenses I start to find
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
This is my cherished date with me
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
Now slowly my Truth I get to see
Was I about to shed a tear?
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
Is it even real, this flicker of fear?
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
With fleeting feelings of imagined sorrow
Alone, Alone, completely Alone
I have nobody else’s stories to borrow

No distractions here to divert my mind

Alone, Alone, completely Alone

Alone, Alone, completely Alone
Now slowly my Truth I get to see

Cool Lovely Breeze
Cool Lovely Breeze, who came after so long
I sit here listening to your swishing song
I feel on my skin, your gentle caress
As you wash away my summer stress
I welcome you with all my love
As you flirt with the trees and birds above
Now you pick up speed and choose to play
With twirling seeds and branches that sway
I hope you know how wonderful you are
With or without that promised rainshower
And Funnily, just as I finish penning this sonnet the clouds burst into huge pearly droplets of drizzle............how does it get any better than that! :-)

The Alchemy of Play
Life felt somewhat like Drudgery
And me a hamster on a wheel
Just doing the same things over
Replaying the same old reel
Doing, doing, and doing more
Why am I doing it at all
And then I saw the children
Playing with their ball
They were also repeating
Their actions again and again
But nowhere did they lament
That their effort was going in vain
They seemed a bundle of joy
As they immersed themselves in play
Could I live my life like that
Perhaps I could try today?
Can I 'choose' my domain of play?
And organize my kitchen and home
Can I try and tame my wildness
That wants to wildly roam?
Perhaps a playmate would be fun
Even as work is transformed to play
To laugh and giggle and be silly
And shoo the worries away
And me a hamster on a wheel
Just doing the same things over
Replaying the same old reel
Doing, doing, and doing more
Why am I doing it at all
